Seasons & Gifting — 500 Zoologee stuffed animals and plush toys for kids

Plush we make for the dates on the calendar — the holiday animals, the spring and autumn friends, and the small soft gifts that go to new babies. Seasonal makes run once, so the shelf changes through the year.

How this part of the collection is put together

Seasonal plush is the part of the collection with a clock on it. Halloween bats, Christmas animals, the green ones for March, hearts in February, the spring lambs and the autumn foxes. We make these in single runs, which is why a child who loved last year's one is sometimes out of luck.

The baby shelf sits here too. Soft, light, embroidered faces, nothing a small hand can work loose — these are the stuffed animals we send to new families, and they are the ones most likely to still be in the house a decade later.

Picking the right one for your child

Seasonal plush is bought as a gift far more often than the rest of the collection, so the question is usually what a child you do not live with will actually keep. Soft, mid-size, washable and recognisable beats clever every time — the teddy bear at Christmas and the bunny at Easter are popular for a reason.

The baby shelf sits in this group too. For a new family we would send the lightest plush toy with an embroidered face: it becomes the security animal, it goes to bed every night, and it is the one most likely to still be in the house ten years later. Nothing on a baby plush should be able to come loose in the dark.

Because these are single runs, the animal a child loved last year is sometimes gone. If you find one that fits, treat the shelf as a shelf rather than a catalogue — what is here now is what we made this season.

Soft first: what the stuffed animals are made of

Every plush toy in this part of the collection uses the same two materials: a short-pile plush outer and a filling spun from recycled water bottles. We buy the pile for the hand rather than the photograph, and the softest samples are the ones we rework the most before the animal is signed off. Seams are doubled where little fingers pull hardest, because that is where a stuffed animal fails.

On everything designed for a baby the face is embroidered — no fitted eyes, nothing on a baby plush that a small hand can work loose in the dark. Those are the stuffed animals that become the bedtime companion and the security object, so the quality of the stitching matters more than the charm of the design. Babies stuffed toys of this kind are also the ones most often handed down.

Care is the same across the shelves. Surface wash with a damp cloth, brush the pile while it dries, and the animal keeps its look for years. It is why a teddy bear or bunny bought here is usually still cherished a decade later, and why families who find one plush toy they love come back for the next.

  • Embroidered faces on everything designed for a baby
  • Doubled seams where a child grips to carry the animal
  • Short-pile plush outer, recycled bottle fibre inside
  • Surface wash only — a full soak flattens the pile

A keeper's note on plush toys for kids

Safety is the part nobody sees. Every adorable plush animal here is crafted to one standard: embroidered faces for babies, stuffed with recycled fibre, seams doubled where a child pulls hardest. We understand that a toy going into a cot has to be right the first time, and that quality is what turns a soft toy into one of the cherished companions a family keeps for life.

The rest is play. Children do not shop by category — they pick the one that fits the adventures already running in their imagination, and a plush stuffed animal with charm beats the world's cleverest toy every time. Teddy bears, lambs, a bunny, a dinosaur for the child who corrects you on the names: the magic is that they become friends, and the fun is watching which one gets chosen.

Adults come back for the animal they had in childhood, which tells you where the heart of this collection sits. Pick the softest one, welcome it into the house along with everything else that arrives with a new baby, and let the child decide which of them becomes beloved.
